How to play Ultimate Tic Tac Toe
- 1The board is a big 3×3 grid, and every square holds its own small game of tic tac toe.
- 2X goes first and can play in any small board.
- 3Where you play inside a small board sends your opponent to the matching small board. Play in a top-right square, and they must play in the top-right board.
- 4Win a small board with three in a row to claim it. If you're sent to a board that's already won or full, you can play anywhere.
- 5Claim three small boards in a row to win the whole game.

X's turn
X goes first: play anywhere
The square you pick sends your opponent to the matching board. Win three boards in a row to win.
Variations
- Pen and paper: draw the big grid with small grids inside and play exactly the same way.
Tips
- Think about where you're sending your opponent, not just where you're playing. A great move that sends them to a board they can win is a bad move.
